I am often asked what Indochine (Indo-sheen) means. The word Indochine is French for Indochina. At the height of French colonialism French Indochina encompassed present-day Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. I fought in the Vietnam war, what the Vietnamese call the American war, as a nineteen year old Marine Corps Sergeant. Vietnam changed my life forever. I have since traveled back to Vietnam for extended visits in 2004 and 2008. It is a beautiful country and full of extraordinary people. When I turned professional, and created my photography company in 2009, I knew that I had to name it Indochine Photography.
